What is Panchangam in Astrology?

Hindu calendar or Hindu Panchang for Today is essential in Vedic Astrology. It is believed to be impossible to perform a feast, festival, and work without turning to panchang because it's only because we could find the Tithi and Muhurat. Whether it is an individual's marriage, a pooja or any other auspicious or sacred thing, the correct date and time are found out for the same by looking at a panchang. A panchang can be a traditional one, or one can see it on the internet to find an auspicious date and any such information.

The Hindu Panchang and some others

Hindu Panchang is an accretion of frequent lunisolar calendars used extensively in Vedic Astrology. A static method of timekeeping is adopted but differs from the origin of the Moon or Sun Cycle, the name of months, and the commencement of New Year. Some of the provincial calendars used in India are:

Vikrami Calendar: It is pretty prevalent in the Northern, Western and Central parts of the country.

Bengali Calendar: This sort of calendar is found in the Eastern states of the nation and emphasizes the Lunar Cycle

Malayalam Calendar: It is specifically found in the Southern state of Kerala, emphasizes Solar Cycle

Panchang conscripts a record of significant dates and astrological whereabouts obtainable in a tabular form. A panchang is advanced grounded on the position of all the celestial bodies. It is made of two words, 'Panch' which means 'Five' and 'Ang', which means 'Limbs', i.e., 'Five Limbs'. Before initiating any favourable task such as marriage, celebration, starting any business, etc., it is to be considered to analyze an auspicious date and time.

Examining the Elements of a Panchang

Hindu Panchang includes five renowned sources of energy:

Vaar (Day of the Week): Panchangnam follows a seven-day week and moderates all the auspicious events, dates and occasions.

Tithi (The Lunar Day): It refers to the position of the Moon in Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) or Krishna Paksha (waning phase). In any case, Tithi is christened after the condition of Moon. This makes up one chief reason that there are 14 tithi in both cycles amid no moon and full Moon.

Nakshatra (Lunar Mansion): There are twelve zodiacs according to Vedic Astrology. Nakshatras are a group of 27 stars forming a zodiac sign. They are analyzed as stated by the Moon's position.

Karana (Half Lunar Day): The half of a Yog is called Karana. 11 Karanas constitute a Date or Tithi. There are total of 11 Karanas. 4 of them are fixed, and the remaining seven are movable.

Yoga (Luni-Solar Day): Yoga is intended by summating the Longitude of Moon and Sun and divided into 27 parts in 13°20'.
