What is Causing Sufferings in Life - Your Present Life Karmas or Past Life Karmas?

Astrology is an ancient wisdom to gain valuable insights into someone’s life through the placement of the planets in the sky. Today, it is commonly seen as a predictive tool to get future predictions regarding various aspects of life. But only a few especially those spiritually awake can get its real purpose. Astrology may explain your karmic cycle! The reason behind your birth and your real purpose in life!

A person with even slightest of religious inclinations is aware of doctrine of Karmas. All religious ideologies around the globe believe in Karmic Correction and its effects on human lives. We are what our karmas were and we will be what are karmas are! Let’s explore

Karmas - The ultimate truth of the universe

It is amazing to know that your birth chart and your past karmas are closely interlinked. Your birth chart is the position of the planets in the sky right at the moment of your birth. But it is not mere coincidence that you were born at that particular point of time and not even a minute here or there. We all carry a baggage of karmas through our past lives and the same is indicated by the planetary placements in our horoscope.

Whatever good or bad we do in our past lives have to be enjoyed or repented by us in our following lives. Many people get disappointed or crib for not having certain facilities or happiness in life. But somewhere the reason behind lack of such happiness is our own karmas. Thousands of books have been written while explaining the importance of karmas in human life. Not just humans but all other living species in fact trees and plants also are affected by their karmas. It goes beyond the purview of astrology to explain that there are 84,00,000 species of living beings in this universe. And based on your karmas you may get birth in any of these categories.

If we face some shortcoming in life say a troubled married life or problems with children then probably we created troubles for others related to these areas of life in our past lives. Now, we get sad for our miseries but deep down it was caused by us only.

Now, the question arises if everything belongs to the past life then what is the relevance of the present life?

Whether your sufferings belong to the present or past life karmas?

Vedic astrology in relation to Hindu belief system narrates about past lives and its accumulated karmas. It is believed that these accumulated past karmas are manifested in different situations of the present life. Vedic Astrology firmly believes in the concept of karma and Moksha (salvation).

It is written in the ancient texts that a soul has to wait until the exact constellation required for its rebirth is formed in the sky. The type of planetary combinations which a person is born with depends on that native’s “Sanchit karma” or the accumulated karmas of past lives. The uniqueness of Vedic astrology is that it considers the dasa system of various planets. The dasa system as devised in astrology is about the fructification of one’s deeds in the past. Any change in the dasa of the planets belonging to different houses in the birth chart makes the native to get good or bad results depending on his/her karmic records of earlier lives.

It is rather sensible to think whatever we get or lack in this present life is a result of our past or present karmas. How one can differentiate that our current sufferings belong to our sins in present or past life? To be honest, there is no way to find this! But yes, we can always estimate the results of our bad karmas whether present or past to certain scarcities or shortfalls in life. We have to repay for our ill deeds no matter they belong to present or past life.

How to ascertain bad karmas?

No one in this world has a perfect life and so as their karmas. If someone was supposed to have perfect karmas that native must have attained salvation. We are in this world it’s because we still have not exhausted all of our karmas. Some person may have a perfect career but at the same time a pathetic family life. One may have huge wealth but very bad health and so on. One thing is clear that if a planet is excellent for one aspect of life it may play complete havoc on another area of life. This is how our karmas are balanced.

A strong Jupiter in the birth chart may bless the native with wealth and fortune in life but at the same time makes that person so religious that due to his/her ideologies that native may fail to enjoy materialistic pleasures as bestowed by the planet Jupiter. Same thing holds true for all other planets.

A native may lack certain specifications in life which may relate to career, education, health, marriage, progeny, old age, respect, recognitions, business etc. This may be due to that person creating hurdles in the bliss of others related to same areas. If I disrupt someone’s education today, there are chances of getting it interrupted for me in my coming lives. Same thing applies to all aspects of life.

Karmic bondages or Rinanubandha

Vedic Astrology talks about “Rinanubandhan” i.e. the debts of the past lives. The people we meet in this world or the relations we make are not just like that. They come to our lives because we share a kind of debt relation with them. Our friends, enemies, relatives, family and all others come for a reason in our lives. We are lucky if we get to meet all pleasing and noble personalities. It means they are here to give us the happiness of the karmas we might have done to them in the past lives.  No one meets you without any reason. Individuals are interconnected with invisible hands of past karmas. Your relations give happiness or sorrows as per your possible attitude or behavior towards them. People possibly meet in different lives until their karmas are paid off. They come repeatedly in life to give you troubles or happiness. If any issue in your life is not getting resolved despite hardest and honest efforts, it is likely that such issues have their karmic roots hidden in the past. If you constantly get bad customers or bosses or even children it clearly shows you have rinanubandhan towards them. If you accept that with a calm mind, you will instantly breakand get rid of them.

Recognition of the present and past life sufferings

We as humans carry a short memory which just can’t remember the incidences of past lives. If we don’t find the reason behind constant sufferings despite doing good karma or following the righteous path, it is due to our past deeds.

We often hear people saying that a corrupt or immoral person enjoying all kinds of bliss in life while a noble soul has to suffer through toughest of hardships in this life. Why does this happen? Here, our past deeds are responsible.

It is not just the past deeds but our present sins are to be sometimes repaid in this life only. If we commit something bad towards others, the same thing comes back to us. And at that time consciously or unconsciously we remember our bad deeds done towards others. In that case it is the result of our present deeds.

Present karmas when repaid always make us remember the bad attitude of ours but it is the past life karmas that leave us clueless as to why something undesirable coming to us.

Can Astrology help us to identify past life karmas?

In Astrology, the planets Rahu, Ketu and Saturn indicate our karmic bondages with their placements in the natal chart. Saturn is a karmic planet. With its placement in varied houses it indicates the pending karmas related to that house in the past life which we have to repay in this present life. Similarly, Rahu shows our desires and Ketu shows detachment. A learned astrologer may explain the karmas and its bondages through a careful analysis of these planets.

Any shortcoming which is brought to this life due to the planet Rahu indicates our past sins. For e.g. Rahu in fifth may cause problems in happiness of children. The native may either have no child or just have one child who will also not listen to that native. This karma is no way attached to the present life but to the past life.

Rahu mainly indicate our deepest sins and the areas where we hurt or caused too much harm to a person. The relative or signification of the house explains where we caused the damage.

Generally, wherever Ketu is placed we hold maximum of attachment however, we are supposed to follow detachment to that house. For e.g. Ketu in the second house makes the native hoard wealth but here ideally the native should not run behind money. The native may have excessive affection or attachment with the family which may hamper peaceful relations with the family members as excess of everything is bad. Now, the native should learn to maintain safe distance so as to not to avoid responsibilities as well.

Saturn indicates our karmic bondages and we need to be extra conscious with the house it is placed as we bound to commit mistakes related to that house.

So, astrology may indicate our past karmic bondages correctly with the help of the planetary placements and associations. It is also the only way to get rid of the karmic bondages through altering our karmas. By consciously performing karmas and accepting things with a calm mind, we can certainly overcome the miseries in life. We should always remember that the planets are there not just to punish but bless too!

Which Planets are Responsible for health & Wealth in Astrology?
